Because everyone needs to have something to work on....
It all started when my daughter was in sixth grade, and she won a prize at the county fair for creating a dress out of reusable shopping bags. Since then, she and I have become very interested in the impact the fashion industry is creating on our planet. It is responsible for 10% of annual global carbon emissions and 85% of textiles end up in landfills.
Guilty! I’m guilty of loving clothes, guilty for buying fast fashion, guilty for buying something and either wearing it once or not at all before giving it away. Since entering the information rabbit hole, I have become more diligent about doing my research before spending my money, I’m choosing quality over quantity, and I’m learning to love the clothes I already own. I have also been exploring clothing rental (although the jury is still out on its environmental impact).
I will continue to research and post articles that I find interesting on this page. You can click on any of the graphics below to read more about this topic. Maybe you will find it interesting and join me in the quest for sustainable fashion.
